The reason is probably beyond your control. The employer may have made the wrong choice. It happens every day in every town and city in the nation. You may have come in a close second. You don't know who beat you. You may, in fact, have greatly impressed the employer. You may have failed to meet an unspoken requirement. You may have fallen prey to unknowable politics, such as inter-department feuds. Remember that the employer probably wishes you well, and may regret not being able to offer you the position. Remember, too, that 300 to 500 people may have applied. If the company interviews five and you are one of them, you've done very well.
